Excerpt: Foreword

It seems only yesterday that I learned to appreciate myself and to treasure the gift of life. Not long ago, I was in pain – denying responsibility for my own life, denying the ‘power within’ and thereby my ability to alter my life through change and positive action.

I was defying the sage’s words that proclaim: "Throughout one's whole life one must continue to learn to live." (Seneca) Clinging desperately to the old, to what I had, I was not able to receive the new. I was not able to learn from an experience and to move on.

Like so many, I trusted others more than I believed in myself, the result being that I led a life that was directed by outer forces and not by my own desires. For the longest time, I neglected my true ‘self,’ struggling with the unconscious truth that my life was a farce unless I started directing my own life force from within. Ever since then, I embarked on the journey to self-discovery that is indeed life-long.

Only this morning, I overcame yet another challenge and, over time, I lived through every single subpoena of The Message.  As long as I am, as long as we are, we will cross the sea of experience that leads us often upstream towards powerful self-growth.

Growth and change originate from within. They are independent of age and hold a profound truth: once you have found yourself, you will never want to lose the ‘friend inside’ again. Independent of family of origin, environment and nationality, women the world over can rise above all challenges. They can engage in self-exploration and self-awareness to create affluence and balance in their lives. The Message is a powerful sermon toward self-discovery as it proclaims that the wise woman learns from her experiences and transforms them through self-discipline into positive energy and self-advancement. No one can give us the answers we are looking for unless we are willing to discover the truth, to accept reality and decide to embark on the journey toward self-exploration.
